About Education Insight

Education insight was established in 2004 on teachers’ request for a magazine that would address their information, education and communication needs, also provide updates on the changes and development in the education sector. The teachers felt challenged thought that they are regarded as the reservoir of knowledge albeit limited resources In addition, teachers wished to have a platform on which to exchange ideas and experiences. Since then 39,000 copies of the magazine have been produced and distributed to schools, colleges and universities in Kenya. Subsequently Education Insight maintains an exclusive database of subscribers (individual teachers, learning institutions and others) In 2007, IBL launched a series of separate publications for head teacher and heads of department on Strategic management and planning to cope with stakeholders demand for excellence in performance management and school results. The demand for Education Insight is growing day by day, and would require huge resources to meet the requirements of 250,000 teachers in 18,000 primary schools, and 4,000 secondary schools in this country. Furthermore schools in slums, Arid and Semi-Arid Areas (ASAL) can ill-afford the cost of the magazine, let alone the minimal subscription fee. Yet these are the teachers requiring the magazine to acquaint themselves with the emerging issues and trends in the education sector. Improvements need to be made in this resource to include subscriptions of on-line magazines (e-zine), and mimeographed lessons developed in the INSET workshops (e-content), and other important topics of the current issues |
